Board Member Spotlight: Peter Hanselmann, Treasurer
Peter Hanselmann is a seasoned finance leader and licensed CPA who advises on financial reporting, operations, and regulatory compliance for hedge funds, private equity funds, and RIAs. He currently serves as Manager of Investment Partnerships at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago, where he leads a team overseeing the firm’s partner investment program, with a focus on driving process improvements through technology.
Previously, Peter was Vice President at Kinzie Capital Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm, where he orchestrated the firm’s first institutional fund close and SEC registration as an RIA, building out back-office processes and launching an investor portal. Before Kinzie, he spent over six years at Northern Trust, running a global regulatory reporting team and supporting flagship clients like Citadel and Bridgewater with financial reporting and complex regulatory filings. Peter began his career in New York with roles at Rothstein Kass (now KPMG), Aksia, and ADW Capital.
A Notre Dame graduate with a B.B.A. in Accounting and Economics and an M.S. in Accountancy (Financial Reporting & Assurance), Peter serves as Treasurer for the Sleeping Bear Gateways Council. He is also an Auxiliary Board member and mentor for HFS Chicago Scholars, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to Chicago students attending top area schools, along with educational enrichment through 1-to-1 mentoring, college readiness, and academic excellence programs.
Originally from Philadelphia, Peter now lives in Chicago but considers Dunns Farm on the east side of Glen Lake, Michigan, his true home—he married his wife, Jacqueline, there in 2023. The couple welcomed their first son in June 2025. In his limited free time, Peter enjoys working out, cycling, playing racket sports, sailing, experimenting with BBQ, catching live music, traveling, and watching Notre Dame football. Whenever possible, he spends time with family and friends on the shores of Glen Lake.
